Covent Garden blooms for Chelsea Fringe
A floral installation created by Capco Covent Garden in Covent Garden’s East Piazza as part of Chelsea Fringe 2018 is raising awareness of Perennial.
The installation titled ‘Moments of Reflection’ will be located on Covent Garden’s East Piazza from 19th – 27th May. It features living walls that are a planted with 20 different species of flowers including foxgloves, wallflowers, geraniums, petunias, lobelias and more, in an assortment of vibrant summer colours. Incorporating two large mirrors, visitors are invited to pause for a floral selfie and spare a moment or two to reflect on all those who keep Britain beautiful.
Covent Garden will bloom this summer as the area welcomes London’s largest outdoor floral art gallery to the estate. Over 40 much-loved brands and restaurants will join in the festivities and blossom with botanical windows, in-store displays and floral products. ‘Covent Garden in Bloom’ runs from 19th May to 24th June.
Laura Garnett, Senior Development Manager at Perennial comments: “For Perennial, being part of Covent Garden in Bloom is a chance to ask people to think about the people behind the plants. At this time of year, there is nothing better than celebrating the British love of gardening, but for all those people who work hard to keep our gardens and green spaces looking fantastic, Perennial is the lifeline that exists to help if they are ever facing crisis. Thanks to Capco Covent Garden and everyone involved for including Perennial in Covent Garden’s summer celebrations.”
The installation has been designed and created by Covent Garden’s new head gardener and Gavin Jones in partnership with Darran Jacques, David Lewis, Gillian Goodson, who are regular supporters of Perennial. Thanks also go to Scotscape and Pantera Carpentry.
Chelsea Fringe is independent of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and is all about spreading some of the excitement and energy around gardens and gardening, giving people the opportunity to express themselves through the medium of plants and gardens.
