‘Deep Roots’ Demonstration Day Takes Place In Holland
Whilst many companies have found it beneficial to hold demonstration events, none could have been more successful than the recent Charterhouse event. Entitled ‘Deep Roots’, an assembly of over 90 attendees, encompassing Charterhouse dealers and customers, visited the home of Redexim in Holland on September 25th.
The brainchild of Charterhouse General Manager Nick Darking, the event took place at the Kromme Rijn Golf Course in the town of Bunnik, on the outskirts of Utrecht. “I had hoped to attract at least 50 people,” said Nick, “but it soon became apparent that the opportunity to see all of our products in one location appealed to everybody we asked.”

Whilst not all of Redexims’ 100+ machines for Natural Turf maintenance could be on show there was a good mix of each product type – including the first showing of a prototype double disc seeder.
Nick again: “I like the term ‘Deep Roots’ because is signifies spreading roots throughout the industry, and that’s what we set out to achieve. We managed to attract a good proportion of our dealers and customers, including some very eminent Premier League Groundsmen and high profile Golf Club Greenkeepers. They all rubbed shoulders together and the social interaction was good to see.”
Some of those delegates were happy to share their thoughts: Nigel Brown, General Manager at Prenton Golf Club thought it was “fantastic” and “a very slick operation; thoroughly enjoyable.” Whilst others, like Derek Thomson, Head Greenkeeper at Wynyard Golf Club, were attracted to particular machines, “I’m very impressed by the new Speedbrush,” he said. “I think that’s fantastic and the new Hi Speed Verti Drain also appeals to me!”
Although there was one unhappy delegate in that Peter Sutter, Groundsman at Waveney Norse had recently bought a disc seeder from Charterhouse and “wished I’d waited 6 months for the new double disc seeder! I’m going to kick myself, but I can’t fault the build quality of the Redexim equipment, nothing has ever needed to be replaced on the machines I have.”
