Perennial Calls Volunteers To Action For 2013
2013 will see national horticulture charity Perennial make its biggest ever call to action as it looks to strengthen and grow its volunteer programme to continue to meet the increasing needs of the horticulturists and their families that it supports.
During 2012 over 400 people volunteered for Perennial around the UK, raising awareness as well as much needed funds for frontline services. The charity has experienced increasing pressures as the full impact of the recession digs in, with many horticulturists face growing and unmanageable debts and financial crisis. It is now essential to grow Perennial’s team of volunteers, ensuring needs can continue to be met.
Laura Garnett, Volunteer Support Officer, Perennial, said: “Volunteers are not optional extras for us. They are an integral part of what Perennial does and we support them at every step of the way. We have lots of exciting opportunities to be part of our growing and passionate team of volunteers and I hope that we shall welcome many new faces in 2013.”
CALL TO ACTION
Perennial is looking for people who enjoy gardens and open spaces. People who can understand the charity’s drive to give practical advice and support to horticulturists in need. If this is you, there are plenty of ways to get involved…
Fundraise: Perennial is always looking for innovative ideas to raise money but it has also got plenty ready and waiting to go – just get in touch. Help out: Lend an administrative hand by helping to manage specific projects, like our
special events programme.
Team up: Get colleagues involved through your work’s corporate social responsibility programmes.
Show and events: Join the Perennial shows and events team, representing the charity at everything from small country fetes to major horticultural festivals such as Chelsea or Hampton Court Flower Shows.
Talk about it: Share your skills and experience with audiences of garden lovers. Our “Speaker Panel” team goes out to clubs and societies to talk about their specialist areas.
This call to action comes ahead of Perennial’s 175th birthday in 2014, and as we enter 2013, the charity’s journey to strengthen and expand its volunteering programme commences. So if you’re looking for a new year’s resolution that’s worth keeping, or want to make 2013 a year to remember, please get in touch. Help us to help those who really do need it.
