Turf Business has a new editor
It was a huge privilege when I was asked to become editor of Turf Business not least because I’d be joining a team of talented colleagues. It was also because as Leeds Rhino’s head groundsman told me: “This is the best industry in the world.”
Having spoken to a number of individuals across the business it was soon clear the turfcare family does, indeed, have some amazing people in its ranks.
The wonderful thing is as a former sports reporter and current property, lifestyle and business writer, the job marries everything together in terms of sporting venues, stately and country homes, schools, colleges, parkland and much more. It also demonstrates how wide a range of sectors the industry covers.
I arrive carrying lots of experience in journalism from newspapers to magazines and the worldwide web, business to finance, human interest to the environment, sport to travel, lifestyle to property. I was involved in producing the UK’s first ground-breaking magazine focussing on electric bike technology. I’ve worked as features editor on The Good Property Guide with clients across the world – and The Good Wedding Guide involving some incredible establishments. And I’ve also been involved with several other top publications in the magazine sector. Home for me is the North East and I’ve always been enthralled by all things green.
I’m looking forward to meeting as many people as possible through our fascinating events, and making new friends along the way. But this is your magazine – if you feel there’s anything we need to cover specifically, or if we ‘re doing something wrong. If there’s an issue you need to get off the chest or goal to push for, feel free to get in touch. Turf Business will have it covered. Personally, I can’t wait to get started.
Joining a magazine in its 16th year means building from a strong base and maintaining already excellent standards to push the bar ever higher – I’m ready to meet the challenge.
