16 Year-Old Power Tool Proves Maruyama’s Durability Claim
An inherited garden power tool which has been used regularly for 16 years needing no more than fuel, lubrication and nylon cord, is set to keep going for many years to come thanks to the brand’s UK importer.
DMMP Limited, which imports and distributes Maruyama garden power tools, was contacted by a Maruyama customer Mr Gary Harris. Gary’s father bought a BMD23 Brush Cutter in 1996 and used it on a regular basis. Gary inherited the power tool last year, and continued using it. He decided to replace some worn parts so contacted DMMP to see if they could help.
Commercial Director of DMMP Colin Hood takes up the story: “Gary soon discovered that we are the sole UK distributors, so we were his first port of call. He called us, but as we don’t hold spare parts for a 1996 model we were more than happy to contact Maruyama’s European headquarters in Brussels and, as they hold the parts, they were ordered, dispatched and delivered to Gary within 24 hours.”
Maruyama’s 2012 equivalent of Gary’s BMD23 Brush Cutter is the new Brush Cutter Plus BCV – launched in the UK this summer – but Colin is not expecting Gary to need a replacement any day soon. “We tell people that Maruyama builds power tools to last,” concludes Colin. “There is no reason why Gary’s father’s brush cutter cannot carry on for another 16 years and we believe that this quality of construction is well matched by the quality of customer care people can expect from Maruyama.”
The Maruyama range includes hedge trimmers and brush cutters, multicutter systems, edgers, blowers, long reach hedge trimmers and accessories. The Maruyama Brush Cutter BC-V Plus+ has only just joined the DMMP stable. In recent trials, the operators liked the comfortable harness; found it better balanced than its competitors, quieter and with less vibration.
