Clearing Spring Flowering Bulbs Proves To Be No Problem For Amazone
With that splash of colour that signals the end of winter, spring flowering bulbs put on a superb show in any situation, whether in parks or municipal green areas, in urban areas on roundabouts or road verges and in private gardens. However, after the flowers have gone over, the dilemma is then always as to how long to leave the top growth there to provide an adequate return of strength and goodness back into the corm so that we ensure that same spectacular display again next spring?
At this time of year, the bulk of the tops are showing signs of dying back and becoming unsightly, so now is the time to start thinking about clearing those areas of green matter.
With no chance of handling such bulk with a triple, the tops must be cleared with something first. The option of strimming these areas still means a manual collection afterwards, and with the tops left at full length, the amount of volume that needs to be cleared also creates a logistical headache and increase in the compost area required.
This is where AMAZONE Groundcare can come to the rescue! The Groundkeeper or Profihopper ranges of mower/collectors with their unique horizontally mounted Exact-Cut cutting rotors make light work of these sorts of applications. Capable of taking anything up to waist-high green matter in their stride, the system will quite happily cut, shred and collect all the tops in one pass, leaving a clean, fresh area ready for use. The tops are then mulched by the rotor and deposited into the over-sized hopper for removal.
A choice of models:
The tractor-mounted Groundkeeper comes in cuttings with of 1.2m up to 2.1 m and is either three-point linkage mounted or trailed behind the tractor. Power requirement starts from just 24 HP. Depending on specification of the Groundkeeper, the hopper contents can be tipped out onto the floor for further handling, or ideally, with the high-lift models such as the GHL, GHL-T, GHS Drive & GHS Jumbo, the hopper contents can be tipped over the side of a trailer or pick-up truck style body for removal from site.
The Profihopper self-propelled range, with its 1.25m cutting width, come as standard with high-lift discharge to make life easy. The hopper can also be used to tip into bulk storage Big Bags to leave along the edge of a site for collection by a lorry mounted crane at a later date. The Big Bags are designed for multiple use and can be emptied and returned ready for later use.
Of course, the Profihopper and Groundkeeper are not just for this job, they will keep on working, day in, day out, all year round. Whether it is mowing, scarifying, collecting leaves or litter, clearing scrub, etc., etc. the kit can do it all.
