Second Summit takes shape
Following an outstanding first Turf Business Summit, we are delighted to confirm that the 2019 summit will be staged at Portugal’s prestigious Quinta do Lago with Golf Course Superintendent, Paul O’Mahony as host.
Scheduled to take place in October 2019, our second summit is expected to live up to and exceed the first event. Once again, Turf Business will bring together 50 influential grounds-care professionals from across all disciplines of the industry for two unique days. Set at one of Europe’s finest golf destinations on Portugal’s beautiful Algarve, delegates and sponsors can look forward to another unrivalled event.
Sharing knowledge, experience and expertise
Turf Business Summit 2019 will continue to build on the work started in Madrid, addressing key issues, opportunities and challenges faced by the whole industry. With an ‘invite only’ format, this unique meeting of turfcare minds is one-of-a-kind in the business, welcoming elite groundsmen and greenkeepers from the UK, Europe and beyond.
As before, we will produce the right platform and agenda, encouraging industry professionals to share their knowledge, experience and expertise to benefit themselves, their colleagues and their places of work.
Our host and patron for 2019
Quinta do Lago’s Golf Course Superintendent, Paul O’Mahony (pictured left) joins the 2019 summit as both patron and host in Portugal. Paul will play a major role in defining and overseeing the event, as he says: “Having a role at the second Turf Business Summit is an opportunity for me to share the challenges and accomplishments of being a Golf Course Superintendent for 16 years. I look forward to welcoming delegates to Quinta do Lago, to be among a demographic who share a common passion for the turf grass world, who seek to continue to better themselves and their respected industry as well as their facility.”
For everyone who attended our inaugural summit, there is little doubt it was an undisputed success. Once again, we thank our generous host in Spain, Paul Burgess, Real Madrid’s Director of Grounds and Environment. And, as our Founding Patron, Paul remains involved and continues to help shape the 2019 event.
Feedback from the 2018 event was that the delegates benefitted enormously from seeing the world-class facilities of Real Madrid as well as networking, both formally and informally. The event was described as well-organised and highly constructive with an intense workshop day that highlighted the issues that are important to industry members. The first summit succeeded too in carving out action plans that can and are being carried forward after the event.
Upping the ante
Delegates can expect this year’s Turf Business Summit to be just as successful, insightful and rewarding. With fresh ideas and some rejuvenated formats, Turf Business will ensure that year two is even more interesting, informative and engaging. Although it is important to continue to build-on discussions and keep the topics that were earmarked in 2018 in the picture, as Martin adds: “Each summit plays a long game, keeping the industry talking to each other and sharing ideas but with an enhanced agenda to spark even louder debates. Our summits are not just about an annual event but are the vehicles to keeping the topics raised at the forefront of the industry’s thinking. It is not only about keeping the debates going but hopefully seeing actions and events held during the year, from now until Portugal.”
As before, Research Engine have been tasked to formulate a 2019 programme, with methods and experiences to enhance the 2018 agenda. With Paul O’Mahony’s input, the move to Quinta do Lago will impress and inspire guests.
Question time gathering
Individuals and organisations have already started to work on ways to address the issues raised at the summit. We will bring more information on these as they develop. In the meantime, Turf Business are looking forward to organising a ‘Question Time’ event which will see sponsors sit alongside a panel of experts, addressing issues already raised by the industry in an ongoing effort to carry forward the industry’s meaningful debates and keep on- topic issues in the spotlight.
Sponsors’ ongoing support
Turf Business Summit are thrilled to have a number of sponsors already on board for 2019. Grateful for their support, Martin Smart, Publisher, is delighted that so many key people are backing the second event, adding: “Once again, on behalf of Turf Business and the industry, I’d like to thank all our sponsors for their continued support. Without our sponsors contribution, ongoing commitment and shared time, our 2019 Summit would not be taking place.”
