Funtec Proves To Be Artful Dodger For Ant & Dec

27 May 2008

ITV has recently brought its popular Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway show back to our screens and as ever it’s full of mad games, fun and competitions. One new aspect to the show is Ant versus Dec “The Teams” – a feature whereby the show’s hosts pit their wits against each other in a series of celebrity team challenges.

Recently, the Geordie lads pitted their wits against each other in the up and coming sport of Dodgeball, and Kent based Funtec UK were chosen to provide a fully portable enclosed court for the contest.

Dodgeball, known to many from the hit film of the same name, consists of two teams of six players who use a set of three 9-10” (228-254mm) diameter balls to eliminate their opponents. Once each player is hit with a ball, they are out and generally once the last player is eliminated, that team loses.

Funtec were called in to supply the ITV show with the court, based on their street-soccer range of portable courts. These can be used to create temporary sports areas for most sports – indoor or outside. Virtually any dimension of court can be created, with or without side protection netting or integral goals. Suitable for competition and training as well as fundraising or promotional activities, the standard components are easily handled and erected on virtually any smooth surface. They can also be installed on sand, opening yet more possibilities for beach sports.

A past client of Funtec is Chelsea Fottball Club, who purchased a street soccer court for their indoor training centre at Cobham, Surrey. “The court gives players an intense training experience, developing better ball control and player fitness as the ball is always in play” commented Neil Bath, Head of Chelsea’s academy.

The key to the Funtec system is flexibility, allowing you to divide up large areas of court for smaller games, net sections and doorways. The funtec boards provide an ideal surface for promotion and will accept film or vinyl logos and slogans to produce a powerful marketing platform.

If your requirements are for hire, Funtec offer both short and long-term options, with or without a surface included.
