Bowls Seminars

28 Nov 2008

Over 150 recently attended autumn bowling green renovation days, organized by SISIS, in conjunction with Avoncrop, Scotts UK, Syngenta and Farmura.

Shrivenham Bowls Club near Swindon, Odiham and North Warnborough Bowling Club in Hampshire and Llandrindnod Wells Bowls Centre in Mid Wales were the venues.

On each of the three days there were demonstrations of SISIS equipment for the bowling green, notably the Dart Pedestrian Vertical Aerator and the new Auto Rotarake Mk 5.

A series of technical presentations were also given.

Chris Briggs of Avoncrop dealt with tips for establishment of fine grass species, and methods of top dressing. Mick Fance of Scott’s UK covered fine turf nutrition, soil analysis, macronutrients, trace elements and bio stimulants.

Simon Barnaby from Syngenta spoke about pests and diseases, and Farmura’s Jonathan Harmer explained how organics are part of fine turf nutrition.
