Ipswich Town Football Club is looking for a Groundsperson to join our growing grounds team. You will be based at the training ground, as well as supporting the team based at Portman Road. The role is a varied one, focusing on all aspects of turf care and the seasonal cycle.

Your key responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Working as part of the grounds team to maintain football pitches at the Training Ground for both the academy and the professional team squads to a high level.
  • After training, using machinery including tractors and mowers safely and responsibly.
  • Operate the irrigation system.
  • Fertilise pitches.
  • Report machinery/system faults to the Grounds Manager or the Mechanic.
  • Mowing and marking out pitches to a good standard.
  • Divotting, strimming the peripherals, and some gardening work along with renovating and growing pitches back in during the spring/summer period.

 

Who are you?

  • Ideally, you will have experience in the sports turf industry.
  • You will have a Level 2 qualification in Turf Management and ideally, p.a1, p.a2 and p.a6 spraying qualifications.
  •  It is essential that you can work flexibly, with the ability to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
  • Be able to multitask and assist other colleagues when needed.
  • You will be comfortable in a busy, fast paced environment.
  • You will have excellent communication skills and be confident communicating.
  • You will have a strong willingness to learn a range of new skills and build on existing abilities.
  • You will be organised, able to meet deadlines and keep calm under pressure.
  • You will be outgoing, enthusiastic and passionate about your work.
