With the recent addition of their seventh Koro Field Top Maker from Campey Turf Care, Mallinsons – one of the UK’s leading sports turf contractors – now boasts an impressive fleet of the most advanced pitch renovation equipment.

Managing director John Mallinson says: “We were one of the first to recognise the benefits of using the Koro Field Top Maker nearly 14 years ago and have since built on that early success. This is now our seventh machine and we have enough work to keep them all operating.”

For more than 50 years J.Mallinson (Ormskirk) Ltd has been a major sports turf contracting company based in the North West.

The company has constructed outstanding sports surfaces for football, rugby, cricket, horseracing, golf and other sports. To achieve this they have always adopted the very latest techniques.

Says John: “Over the years, the Koro machines have got better and better and retained the excellent build quality with superb performance. Campey’s always give excellent service and prompt backup if called on.

“We have used the Field Top Maker on many of the top football, rugby and cricket grounds in the country. The Koro Field Top Makers and Koro Top drain give us the means to address many tasks across the range of contracts that we carry out.”

David Birch from J. Mallinson, says: “I use the Koros out in the field, as well as carrying out the maintenance, and find them to be very user-friendly. In particular, the new and improved ergonomic design is very easy to work on – with most of the main components easily accessible.”

Gary Wignall one of Mallinson’s longest serving employees, adds: “The recent improvements of having a foldable belt for ease of transport, paired with the adjustments of the machine, make it a pleasure to use”

“The Koro FTM completely changed the approach to pitch renovation and is still having a huge impact today.”  says Richard Campey “It is primarily a heavy-duty fraise mower, for removing unwanted surface matter such as poa annua, thatch, weeds or the entire surface to a depth of 50mm. But in truth is so much more than that. It is a means of actively controlling the quality and performance of our sports surfaces.”

He continued “The Koro adapts to changes in the industry which is why we have introduced new rotors such as the latest Terraplaner® for the ultimate in surface cleaning and Universe® rotor for synthetic surfaces.“
