Myerscough Sports Turf Degrees Accredited By IOG

26 Jun 2014

Under its jurisdiction as a Professional Statutory and Regulatory Body, the Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG), the leading membership organisation for everyone involved in grounds management and maintenance throughout UK sports, landscape and amenity facilities, has formally accredited Myerscough College’s degree programmes in sports turf.

Myerscough College’s Stewart Brown and Chris Gray of the IOG.

Myerscough College is the largest provider of higher education qualifications in Europe for sports turf and offers full-time and online FdSc and BSc (Hons) degrees.

Both the IOG and Myerscough are driving forward education and training to further raise industry standards and professionalism, and are keen to develop their partnership to provide a range of opportunities for those involved in groundsmanship and greenkeeping.

Commenting, the IOG’s head of education Chris Gray, said: “This is another excellent example of the IOG demonstrating its commitment to support the turf and groundscare industry by working with other like-minded organisations. There is now a much more joined-up approach to education and training, providing progression opportunities for all types of learners, all with the aim of improving standards across the board.”

Stewart Brown, Myerscough College’s assistant head for Greenspace & Creative Studies, added: “At Myerscough we strive to ensure our degree courses are fit for purpose and that our graduates leave with the skills and knowledge the industry needs. This approval from the IOG is testament to our work and we are proud to have such accreditation.”
