Dennis & SISIS Host SWALEC Cricket Groundsmen Seminar

27 Sep 2012

Continuing its commitment to thought provoking seminars, Dennis & SISIS recently held one for Cricket Groundsmen at the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff.  Keith Exton, Head Groundsman of Glamorgan CCC, together with his Chief Executive Alan Hamer welcomed  over 130 delegates to the seminar, all no doubt keen to visit a test match ground and learn from the experts.

Chris Wood ECB Pitch Adviser, together with Keith Exton, kicked off the day by talking about advances in aeration procedures.  After a look at the SWALEC’s cricket square renovations Keith then joined Andy Pierson (Kent CCC) and Stuart Kerrison (Essex CCC) to make a ‘3’ to cover the subject of ‘Winning the battle – Groundsman vs The Climatic Seasons’. A very topical subject that brought forward a wealth of viewpoints.

In the afternoon delegates were given a cricket square scarification demonstration by the Dennis & SISIS team before receiving in-depth presentations on a variety of subjects including LED lighting and grass root funding schemes. Throughout the day a selection of Dennis and SISIS machinery to keep turf up to world class standards was on display.

For the organisers Roger Moore, Customer Manager for Dennis & Sisis, commented, “We are delighted to have wrapped up the 2012 seminar programme at such a prestigious venue.  We thought there would be demand for places at this seminar so we’re pleased to have chosen this larger venue.  Overall, we have been delighted with the attendance at all our seminars during 2012.”

Summing up for the delegates, Vic Demain expressed his delight, “It was an incredibly interesting day, held at a first class venue.  It’s good to hear and see new techniques being used by Groundsmen at the highest level. It was by the Groundsmen for the Groundsman.”
