Job Vacancy: Greenkeeper, Woolley Park Golf Club

Woolley Park Golf Club are seeking to recruit a new full time Greenkeeper to join our ground staff team.

We are a family business operating a Proprietary Club with 27 holes of golf, a practice area, indoor golf simulator, putting green and a warm, welcoming clubhouse.

Reporting directly to the family, as a Greenkeeper you will be responsible for the maintenance and improvement of all external Golf Course facilities so that they exceed the expectations of club members, guests, visitors, staff and management and will also ensure upkeep of facilities at Mount Farm.

You will be expected to work independently and as a part of an experienced and highly competent team of turf care professionals. You will prepare the 18 hole course and Par 3 course for play to the highest standards and have an overview of all club tournaments in order to plan and prepare for such events. You will prepare ground for and ensure establishment of turf, plants and trees across all grounds and additionally will ensure all non-played grassed areas of the Company premises remain neatly kept. You will undertake routine machine maintenance and project work in designated areas of the grounds.

You will have direct contact with members, guests and visitors of the Club and will be expected to provide high quality, professional hospitality assistance at all times.
The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum turf care qualification of NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
  • PA1 and PA2 certification.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years’ practical greenkeeping is desirable.
  • Chainsaw qualification is desirable.
  • A keen eye for detail and be able to produce a high standard of work.
  • Mechanical skills are desirable.
  • Own transport and full UK driving licence essential.

You will be enthusiastic about the role and your association with the Club.

You will be conscientious with good communication skills to become a part of this small, dedicated team.
You will work five days a week (Monday to Friday). Your basic salary will be based on 39 hours a week.

You will be expected to work independently at least one weekend in four and some seasonal hours, with overtime pay.

In return you will be working for a family focussed company offering a competitive salary (£25-£30K based on skills and experience) with 28 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays, pension provision and support with continued professional development (CPD).
