Role summary
A vacancy has arisen for an organised and proactive team player to join Newmarket Racecourses as a Grounds Person. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the racing surface and racing infrastructure. To be successful in this role a basic knowledge of turf husbandry and groundsmanship would be desirable, but a willingness to learn the required skills is more important.
The successful candidate will;
• be responsible for the maintenance and preparation of racing surfaces
• work with a variety of machinery
• have good communication skills
• hold a full UK driving licence
Spraying certificates (PA1, PA2a and PA6), a sports turf/horticulture/IOG qualification would be an advantage, but not a necessity.
Due to the nature of this role, there will be a requirement to be available at weekends and evenings as and when required.

Located at the top of Haldon Hills, Exeter Racecourse is the highest racecourse in the UK and is considered one of the loveliest and fairest tracks in the country. Role summary
A vacancy has arisen for a driven and proactive team player to join the team at Exeter Racecourse, within the Grounds team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the racing surface and Grandstand areas, alongside supporting the wider racecourse estate. To be successful in this role a basic knowledge of turf husbandry and groundsmanship would be desirable, but a willingness to learn the required skills is more important.
The successful candidate will;
- be responsible for the maintenance, preparation and repair of racing surfaces
- Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of outdoor areas, racecourse stables and yard
- building and repairing hurdles and fences
- movement of running rail
- work with and maintain a variety of machinery
- provide support to Wincanton Racecourse as required
- have a basic working knowledge of Health & Safety and demonstrate a willingness to follow regulations
- Possess a full UK driving licence
Spraying certificates (PA1, PA2a and PA6), a sports turf/horticulture/IOG/GMA qualification would be an advantage, but not a necessity.
Travel within the South West Region may be required so it is essential that the successful candidate holds a full driving licence and has access to a vehicle. Due to the nature of this role, there will be a requirement to be available at weekends and evenings as and when required.

To be successful in this role, a basic knowledge of turf husbandry and groundsmanship would be desirable, but a willingness to learn the required skills is more important.

- assist with the maintenance and cleaning of the stable yard, before and after racing
- have a basic working knowledge of Health & Safety and demonstrate a willingness to follow regulations
- Possess a full UK driving licence
