Bordering the Thames in Fulham and set in 42 acres of magnificent grounds, The Hurlingham Club is a green oasis of tradition and international renown and is recognised throughout the world as one of Britain’s greatest private members’ clubs.
The Department
The Grounds Team are part of the Estates Department and are made up of 26 professional and highly motivated individuals who pride themselves on the maintenance and upkeep of the prestigious grounds. The grounds of the Club include ten croquet lawns, thirty grass tennis courts, a cricket ground, a nine-hole golf course, two bowling greens and over a hectare of flowers, shrubs and ornamental lawns. It is through the efforts of the Grounds team that the Club’s members are rewarded year on year with award winning sports surfaces and stunning season changing flowerbeds.
GROUNDS SUPERVISOR
Role: Grounds Supervisor

The Role & Ideal Candidate
- As a Grounds Supervisor you will work a 39 hour week with regular weekend work (compulsory but not guaranteed).
- Would suit a 1st assistant/deputy greenkeeper or someone looking for a supervisory role.
- Sound knowledge of the maintenance of sand based surfaces, including feeding, pest and disease control.
- Ideally you should have PA1/PA2a spraying certificates and minimum NVQ level 2 qualification or equivalent.
- A keen eye for detail and a passion for your work.
- Ability to supervise and motivate a team of 3 people on a daily basis.
- Experience of computerised irrigation systems is an advantage.
- Ability to work under pressure and enjoy the challenge of producing surfaces capable of hosting major events, including National Croquet Finals, International Croquet Test Matches and the Croquet World Championships in 2023.
- Willingness to work closely with the Grounds Manager and his Deputy to achieve these high standards.

SEASONAL GROUNDSWORKERS/GARDENERS
Role: Seasonal Groundsworker

Job Specifics
As a seasonal you will work a 39 hour week, Monday to Friday (plus regular weekend overtime, compulsory but not guaranteed). The hourly rate will be £11.18 per hour. Your role includes supporting the permanent team in a wide range of duties, taking care of either the sports turf surfaces and event set up or the gardens around the Club.
This is a fixed term role. Candidates must be available from March through to the end of November.
