Grassroots cricket continues to embrace hybrid pitches at pace across the UK, according to the latest install figures from SIS Pitches.

Working in cricket since 2017, the global sports surface specialist has delivered multiple installs at 30 local clubs and schools in the past year alone, signalling growing interest in the technology at all levels of competition after its 2019 sanctioning and subsequent widespread uptake across the sport’s professional ranks.

SIS’s grassroots projects span the length of England – from Mirfield Parish Church CC in West Yorkshire to Preston Nomads CC on the Sussex coast. Meanwhile, the company’s presence has grown in Northern Ireland, with Templepatrick, Larne and Lurgan all signing off projects in recent months, joining a major install at Stormont Cricket Ground. SIS’s work in the Republic of Ireland has also continued with two projects in the Dublin area: Clontarf CC and Railway Union CC.

Prized for their durability under tough playing conditions, hybrid cricket pitches resist wear far better than standard natural surfaces, allowing up to three times as many fixtures without compromising performance. This is ideal for busy clubs running multiple teams and formats on the same square.

Grassroots growth builds on SIS Grass Hybrid’s strong track record at the top levels of the game. In recent years, the company has completed major installations at some of the country’s most iconic cricket venues, including Edgbaston in 2025. Since then, SIS has continued to strengthen its presence across the counties, with hybrid pitches now installed at 17 of the 18 teams competing in the English County Championship.

Recent projects at this level include repeat installs at Somerset and Warwickshire, as well as new hybrids for Yorkshire, Hampshire, Northamptonshire and Glamorgan. For 2026, SIS has also agreed to deliver six hybrid pitches at the new women’s ground for Middlesex CCC. Due for install this spring, it is the first facility Middlesex will own outright in its 162-year history, marking it out as a landmark moment for the club, grounds team and fans alike.
