State-Of-The-Art Training Facilities For Chelsea FC

20 Jan 2014

Leading natural and artificial sportsground contractors White Horse Contractors association with Barclays Premier League side Chelsea FC has seen renovation works undertaken at the club’s Cobham training ground.

Building on the relationship that the company has enjoyed with the club for over 15 years, White Horse Contractors were chosen as the contractor of choice for the initial construction of the first team pitches in 2003.

White Horse Contractors have started ‘phase 5’ pitch renovations at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground.

All pitches at the 152-acre training facility at Cobham are replicas of the club’s Stamford Bridge surface and the polypropylene fibre reinforced silica sand (fibre sand) fed into the root zone adds stability to a surface created from a Rigby Taylor R14 seed mix.

WHC has worked closely with the club to minimise off-site waste and have adopted a strategy to ensure that no material has to be carted off site. The benefits being reduced cost, fewer vehicle movements affecting the environment and local residents and reducing the requirement for fertiliser. This latter strategy illustrates WHC’s commitment to the environment.

“The strong relationship we have with White Horse has developed over the years and is as a result of them listening to us, understanding our needs then delivering a first class service.”

Equipped for the 21st century, White Horse Contractors maintains and operates a large fleet of plant and equipment, undertaking a diversity of operations including earthmoving and landscaping works. This investment and continued improvement of equipment underlines White Horse Contractor’s commitment to the ‘in-house’ approach which has kept them at the forefront of the industry since 1957.

“The thing I like about white Horse is their attention to detail. They are here when you need them and for as long as you need them. I know I can rely on them,” said Jason.
