EIGCA Return To Scotland For 2015 Annual Meeting

3 Dec 2014

The European Institute of Golf Course Architects (EIGCA) is delighted to announce that it will be returning to Scotland in 2015 for its annual meeting.

The three day event will take place in North Berwick between the 15th and 18th of April and will be based at the Marine Hotel overlooking the historic North Berwick links.

Scotland, and especially East Lothian, has had a huge impact on the development of golf around the globe and, in recognition of this, the 2015 EIGCA Conference will be entitled “Inspired by Scotland”. As always a varied range of topics will be discussed, including a review of those early pioneers of the game who ventured forth from this part of Scotland and an examination of green designs inspired by North Berwick’s famous Biarritz and Redan holes.

The annual President’s Cup golf tournament is always a highlight of the week and this year should be no exception. The 36 hole stableford competition will be played over two days on North Berwick and its close neighbour Gullane 2 and both courses should provide a real test of old fashioned links golf.

Commenting on the choice of North Berwick for the 2015 Annual Meeting EIGCA President Peter Fjallman said; “Having previously visited St Andrews with the World Golf Forum we were keen to take our AGM to a different part of Scotland next year. North Berwick is a wonderful town with a rich golfing legacy and it should prove to be an ideal location for our members and partners to come together and enjoy a programme of education, networking and golf.”
