Sports Turf Academy (STA) Technical Services Assistant Manager

About The Role

Leicester City FC have an exciting opportunity to join their award-winning Sports Turf and Grounds team, working specifically within the Sports Turf Academy located at the new Training Ground.

The role is dedicated to working within Sports Turf Academy’s Technical Services team and offers an opportunity to work closely with the Sports Turf Academy’s management team to improve sports fields and pitches in our local community and beyond. The candidate will be tasked to work at the highest standards in sports turf renovation and hold responsibilities to assist the Technical Services Manager in representing LCFC’s Sports Turf Academy in the community.

Who We’re Looking For

The overall objective of the role is to assist in the operation of the Sports Turf Academy’s Technical Services (STATS) pillar. This involves working towards meeting ambitious targets to improve a high number of playing surfaces across the region. The Technical Services Assistant Manager will work within the STA team to support a growing number of grassroots clubs and higher-level sports clubs with practical implementation of sports turf improvement works.

Key tasks include but not limited to:
– To work closely and support the Sports Turf Academy Technical Services Manager and Sports Turf Academy Manager to deliver the overall objective of Technical Services in the STA.
– To work at a high standard in planning and operating a range of sports turf tasks at a technically advanced level.
– To assist the Technical Services Manager and contribute to the smooth running of agreed works. This includes working through peak renovations periods to deliver contracted work on time and within budget.
– To assist and support the development of Technical Services in the STA. This includes ensuring financial and contracted targets are met.
– To deputise for the Technical Services Manager in their absence.
– To communicate at a high standard with members of staff within the STA, LCFC Grounds team, external clients and STA associated stakeholders.
– To be able to complete contractual pitch improvement works within an agreed specification of resources and time.
– To support the Technical Services Manager and the Sports Turf Academy Manager to ensure the growth and development of the STA and the Technical Services pillar.

The ideal candidate will hold a minimum of a Level 3 Sports Turf qualification (or similar) and have significant experience of sports turf and/or golf course maintenance work, including knowledge of and qualifications in PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying. The role is expected to be wide-ranging and varied, so candidates should have a high level of organisational and administrative skills, a proactive and flexible approach to work, and maintain the highest levels of professionalism when representing the Club.
