Four exciting opportunities to join the Grounds Team at Arsenal are currently available, see below for each vacancy and how to apply.
The successful candidates will be responsible for the preparation and running of the Emirates Stadium and wider facilities at other locations for all events and functions. Department remit includes property and facilities management, security, spectator safety at events, wider Health and Safety matters.
Grounds Person – Hale End
To work as part of a team in the maintenance and general upkeep of the Arsenal Youth Academy Hale End.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance of the playing surfaces and amenity landscapes – hand and ride on cutting of the playing surfaces, strimming around trees, sprinklers, hand digging borders, spreading composts, incorporating into soil, leaf clearing, sweeping up hard standing areas, pruning shrubs, disposing of cuttings and debris, hand weeding sensitive areas around plants where chemical control is not permitted etc
- Tractor and trailer work when carrying out jobs
- Wide use of machinery in renovation of grass areas – use of turf cutters, edgers, scarification, seeding, stone buriers and seeders
- Grass cutting and strimming around ball stopping nets
- Pedestrian and ride on grass cutting on football pitches and surrounds
- Watering plants and other associated areas with hand-held equipment
- Assisting in the renovation of pitches using equipment associated with this process e.g. tractor and trailer work, sand spreading and aeration work
- Marking out pitches
- Maintenance of 3G and 4G surfaces
- Fertiliser/Chemical applications
- Movement of Pitch Grow Lights
- Helping out with deliveries, manual handling of bags of sand, sand soil, fertiliser bags and seed bags ranging from 20-25kg.
- Cleaning equipment stores and associated washdown areas.
- Ad hoc duties as and when required.

To work as part of a team in the maintenance and general upkeep of the Arsenal Training Centre, London Colney.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance of the playing surfaces and amenity landscapes – hand and ride on cutting of the playing surfaces, strimming around trees, sprinklers, hand digging borders, spreading composts, incorporating into soil, leaf clearing, sweeping up hard standing areas, pruning shrubs, disposing of cuttings and debris, hand weeding sensitive areas around plants where chemical control is not permitted etc

First Assistant Grounds Person – Hertfordshire
To assist in the day to day maintenance and general upkeep of the Boreham Wood playing surface and the management of the contracting staff on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting the Head Grounds person with implementing/distributing work to contracting staff.
- Assist in delivering pitch operations in a timely manner and completed to the expected standard.
- Maintenance of the playing surface
- Hand and ride on cutting of grass
- Aeration Work
- Marking Out
- Divoting
- Fertilising/Spraying
- Wide use of machinery in renovation of grass areas – use of turf cutters, edgers, scarification, aeration machinery and seeders
- Matchday Set up and pitch testing
- Assisting in the renovation of pitches using equipment associated with this process e.g. tractor and trailer work, sand spreading if required
- Irrigation management and manual watering
- Helping out with deliveries, manual handling bags of sand, fertiliser and seed ranging from 20-25kg.
- Cleaning equipment stores and associated washdown areas
- Maintenance of 4G surfaces around dugout area
- Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures
- Ad hoc duties as and when required.

First Assistant Grounds Person – Hale End
To work as part of a team in the maintenance and general upkeep of the Hale End Youth Academy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting the Deputy Head Grounds person with implementing/distributing work to staff.

- Assist the Head Grounds person in the absence of the Deputy Head Grounds person.
