Greenkeeeper At Stoke Poges

Greenkeeeper At Stoke Poges

22 Feb 2023

The Green Keeper role is to support the Course Manager and Senior Green Keeper to deliver a good quality 18-hole golf course that is played on and enjoyed by golf club members, visitors, and societies, many of whom are local Buckinghamshire residents. The Maintenance team at The South Buckinghamshire therefore play a crucial part in preparing an 18-hole golf course, and practice area, to a high standard, so as to provide a good quality service for all who play the course.

About the role

The role has come about after the resignation of a valued green keeper who has moved to a golf course in Berkshire, leading to a vacancy for the role of Green Keeper.
Maintaining a public ‘Pay and Play’ golf course, can be challenging, especially as members will expect the same standards seen at a private course. We are therefore looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual, with a strong works ethic, who is ready and able to work with the Course Manager and the rest of the team so as to improve the course.

The hours can be long, particularly in the summer, but the position is an enjoyable one. The post holder will need to understand the essential requirements for maintaining a golf course throughout the year, be able to demonstrate how to be a good team leader and motivator, and have the relevant qualifications and experience for the role. Additional training is made available

All staff are on annualised hours’ contracts, and the successful candidate will be asked to work an average of 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, through the year, with shifts starting as early as 5.45am and finishing as late as 3pm during the summer months. Some overtime may be available for covering holiday or sickness. The successful candidate will also be asked to work approximately 1 in 3 weekends through the year, totalling 72 hours over the annual 12-month period, for which additional contractual overtime payment is made on a monthly basis.
