Husqvarna launches autonomous dew removal solution
When dew removal is delayed or missed during daily course preparation, prolonged moisture on putting surfaces can contribute to the conditions associated with fungal disease pressure and costly agronomic intervention. Husqvarna aims to support golf courses in managing this risk with the launch of a new autonomous dew removal solution, compatible with Husqvarna Automower® 580L EPOS®.
The solution works by replacing the robotic mower’s cutting disc with a purpose-built dew removal attachment. Golf courses can configure dedicated work areas across greens, connected through transport paths, enabling the unit to navigate autonomously between greens during operation. During transit, the attachment is automatically lifted clear of the ground to minimise cross-contamination risk between surfaces.
“Greenkeeping teams have told us that the early-morning window is one of the most pressured parts of the working day and dew removal sits right at the centre of that. Dew is often present before greenkeeping teams start their shifts, adding pressure on workloads, turf health and disease risk,” said Andrew Lees, Global Segment Manager at Husqvarna. “This is a direct response to those conversations. Automower® 580L EPOS® is already doing meaningful work on fairways and approaches at courses across the world. Now it can be part of that critical first hour on the greens as well.”
The dew removal attachment enables courses to complete the task autonomously before routine maintenance begins, which can support cleaner, drier and more consistent putting surfaces throughout the day. For courses managing multiple greens or preparing for tournament conditions, the operational benefit is expected to be most useful during the early-morning window when staff resources are typically stretched or not present due to shift patterns.
As part of its commitment to innovation in turf management, Husqvarna is participating in a global research initiative examining alternative strategies for managing dollar spot, one of the most economically significant turf diseases affecting golf courses worldwide. The study, led by the International Turfgrass Research Initiative (ITRI) and funded by the USGA, R&A and STERF, is ongoing and will use the dew removal solution as part of its research into disease management strategies across Sweden, Denmark, the United States and Germany. Findings from the study, once available, will be reported separately and do not constitute an endorsement of the dew removal solution by ITRI, the USGA, the R&A or STERF.
The development marks another step in Husqvarna’s work to extend autonomous technology beyond mowing and into the wider demands of greenkeeping teams, aiming to reduce manual workload and support turf management across daily course preparation.
The Husqvarna autonomous dew removal solution will be available from early 2027. For more information about the solution, visit: https://www.husqvarna.com/uk/attachments/dew-remover-accessory-for-automower-start-kit/
