![]() |
The Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG) has confirmed the dates and venues for their popular training courses on the maintenance of synthetic surfaces, run in conjunction with maintenance and renovation specialists Technical Surfaces.
The IOG has developed the one day courses titled ‘The maintenance and management of synthetic sports surfaces’ to ensure that those responsible for synthetic surfaces understand the care and maintenance requirements of the surface and to aid in the provision of a better and safer surface for all non-turf games.
The aim of this course is to explain how the surfaces are constructed and demonstrate the various methods of maintenance for synthetic surfaces. Synthetic surfaces are now available to all sports and therefore the course is suitable for groundsmen from all sporting disciplines.
The main surfaces covered during the course will be sand-based, water- based and rubber filled carpets. However, all other types of surfaces will be included.
The courses, now in their eighth year will be held at the following venues:
| County | Venue | Date (2008) |
| Leicester | Loughborough University | 21st May |
| Bristol | Bristol University | 30th September |
| Yorkshire | Weetwood Sportsground, Leeds | 16th October |
Attendance is £100 for IOG members and £200 for non-members which includes lunch, refreshments, comprehensive handout and certificate. However, you can become an IOG member for a small fee of £45.00 for an annual membership which entitles you to huge savings on any of the IOG courses.
