28 Jun 2007

Multi-million dollar investments in state-of-the-art machinery to ensure highest quality turf

Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai’s premier residential golfing community, and The Toro Company have announced an exclusive five-year deal for the supply of golf course maintenance machinery and irrigation systems.

The multi-million dollar contract covers the most technologically-advanced golf and landscape irrigation system and a complete fleet of golf course maintenance equipment for the four signature courses planned for the development.

David Spencer, chief executive of Jumeirah Golf Estates, said: “We’re developing the best courses in Dubai and that means securing the best equipment and advice, at every stage of our development.“Toro is well-known among the world’s golf course community as the world’s leading supplier of turf management equipment and consultancy.“With this deal, we become Toro’s largest customer in the Middle East. It is a strategic investment in our long-term development as one of the best residential golf communities in the world.”

Toro’s European director of new business development, Bob Buckingham, said: “We are highly delighted to be working with the team at Jumeirah Golf Estates and look forward to developing a long lasting partnership which meets their needs for maintenance equipment and support services.”

The world’s leading golfing and course design superstars are joining forces to create Dubai’s premier residential golfing community – Jumeirah Golf Estates. Greg Norman, Vijay Singh, Sergio Garcia and the father of modern golf course design, Pete Dye, are working on creating one of the world’s most distinctive golf developments.

Jumeirah Golf Estates aims to be one of the finest residential golfing destinations in the world. Four courses – Fire, Earth, Water and Wind – will pay tribute to the power of nature, each employing the distinctive characteristics of its own surroundings to deliver a unique challenge.

They will be surrounded by individually designed residential communities which bring a new sense of luxury and space to Dubai.

The first phase, under construction, incorporates the Greg Norman-designed Fire and Earth courses and 13 residential communities across 375 of the total 1,119 hectares.
