Minimising Drift & Keeping Legal
There is a need for shrouded booms these days, driven by spraying regulations aimed at the prevention of pesticide contaminating water courses and the prevention of spray drift.
The Hardi Defender boom not only has LERAP 3-star rating but is the only boom on the market that has achieved 3-star rating using standard nozzles, the manufacturer tells us. This gives far more flexibility with the choice of chemicals that can be used.

A 3-star rated nozzle demands that it must achieve a 75% reduction of drift to that of an equivalent standard nozzle, this is achieved by creating coarser droplets.
The Defender has been tested to the equivalent of a 95% reduction of drift using both fine and medium spray quality nozzles, says Hardi.
Defender booms are available in three width sizes: 1 metre, 4.5 metre and 6 metre. The 1 metre units can be in the self-contained format or hose feed using a conventional sprayer. The 4.5 and 6 metre formats give a range from manual fold to either hydraulic of electronic fold.
