Spurs refresh utility vehicle fleet

Spurs refresh utility vehicle fleet

3 May 2016

Tottenham Hotspur, the high-flying Barclay’s Premier League football club, has taken delivery of a new fleet of Cushman utility and specialist transport vehicles from local dealer Ernest Doe & Sons Ltd, for use at their state-of-the-art Training Centre in Enfield, North London.

The new fleet comprises six Cushman Hauler Pro 72-volt electric utility vehicles, two Cushman four-seater Shuttles with bespoke cargo beds, two specially-designed stretcher/ambulance vehicles and an E-Z-GO Express Shuttle 6, finished in Spurs Blue for transporting VIP guests around the 77-acre site.

The architecturally acclaimed Training Centre is the home of the Club’s First Team and Academy and is recognised as one of the best in Europe. It includes a covered artificial pitch, world-class player preparation areas, pool and hydrotherapy complex, altitude room, large-scale gymnasium and specialist sports rehabilitation suites. There are 15 grass pitches across the site including four dedicated solely for First Team Training and one and a half artificial outdoor pitches with floodlighting. The First Team Match pitch is built to exactly the same specification as the pitch at White Hart Lane.

Darren Baldwin, Head of Playing Surfaces and Estates at Tottenham said: “These vehicles have been procured under our preferred supplier agreement with Does and Ransomes Jacobsen. They replace the existing fleet we’ve been operating for the past three years and include the latest 72-volt battery technology which gives significantly increased operating time and range, up to 50 miles, before recharging is required.

“We designed the Training Centre with environmental protection and sustainability in mind and that’s why we use electric powered utility vehicles, wherever possible. Also, some of the vehicles are fitted with the latest TKV geo-fencing technology, which prevents the vehicles from entering various ‘no-go’ areas across the site. They all have on-board chargers and Hydrolink semi-automated battery filling systems to ensure the longlife of the batteries.

“The ambulance vehicles have been specially designed to suit our requirements; the white vehicle is dedicated to the first team squad and the green is used for the Academy teams. With players’ transfer values as they are today, it makes sound commercial sense to have these vehicles on standby at training sessions, just in case they are required to transport an injured player to our medical facilities.

“Again, the service from the team at Ernest Doe has been first-class and the support from the Cushman team at Ransomes Jacobsen has ensured that we have the most technological advanced utility vehicle fleet available.”
