TP Woodchippers delivers decade of top performance for Tree Tops Forestry

TP Woodchippers delivers decade of top performance for Tree Tops Forestry

22 Oct 2026
For over 50 years, quality and reliability have been central to operations for Yorkshire-based Tree Tops Forestry. Placing the same emphasis on quality when it comes to their choice of machinery has seen the company build a longstanding partnership with TP Woodchippers – with a 176 their fourth TP machine and, according to owner Jonathan Strange, it’s the best one yet!

Based in Settle but undertaking commercial and domestic tree work across the country, Tree Tops purchased their first TP machine in 2013, with Jonathans decision coming down to a combination of design, performance and the opportunity to try it out first-hand. “I’ve never followed the crowd and purchased what everybody else buys… I want to buy the best” he explains. “I explored all the options at the time, and had a good opportunity to put the TP 175 through its paces which was what really sealed the deal.”

“TP was the one that did everything I needed it to do. It was a well-built machine that looked fantastic and from that first purchase I’ve never felt the need to use anything else.”

Jonathan replaced the TP 175 like-for-like, owning three of the road-tow machines over the course of the next two decades. It was only TP’s innovation and progression that led him to purchase the TP 176 two years ago. “While I loved everything about the 175, the 176 was the next step forward with a number of features making the performance even better – namely a new blade design and a Kubota engine, which provides even greater peace of mind when it comes to reliability and longevity.”

For a small team, productivity is key, with the speed of the 176 another significant benefit, helping the business get through work efficiently while maintaining the standard of chip quality their customers have come to expect.

“As the only woodchipper we use, it’s important the team get on well with it – and they love it!” He continues, “It also matters to me how it looks, it’s important that our equipment looks professional to ensure we make the right first impression when we arrive on site.”

Although Jonathan says he has experienced very few problems with his TP machines, knowing that support is available when needed provides additional reassurance. This has also taken a leap forward with the appointment of Phil Edmondson and the establishment of a nationwide dealer network. “I’ve known Phil for many years. He has a fantastic working knowledge of these machines and, with a nationwide network of dealers, I know I could source parts, if needed, wherever we are working in the country.”

He concludes, “This combination of responsive support and powerful, dependable equipment makes this a partnership that’s set to last.”
