Peter Dury NDT, D Uni Essex attended Buckingham Palace on 7^th November to pick up his MBE for services to Groundsmanship. This came through his over 50 years of service to the Institute of Groundsmanship as a member and examiner and his role in establishing performance quality assessments for both natural and synthetic turf.

During the ceremony where he received the award from the Princess Royal, Princess Anne remarked on how unique he is to have such expertise in both natural and synthetic fields. Peter was the inventor of the modern synthetic pitch for cricket and for many years was the non-turf pitch consultant to the NCA and the ECB as well as sitting on many of the natural turf committees.
