Tillers Turf Appoint Specialist Turf Manager

3 Nov 2014

Richard Owens has joined Tillers Turf as their Specialist Turf Manager, with the responsibility for the production of turf for golf courses and of wildflower turf for landscapes and green roofs.

Richard won The Conservation Greenkeeper of the Year Award in 2014.

As Course Manager at Boston West GC for the last 20 years Richard has a wealth of experience in presenting perfect playing surfaces.  This will be put to good use at Tillers Turf when growing and supplying turf to some of the leading golf courses in Europe, including Wentworth, Gleneagles, Turnberry and Muirfield.

A keen environmentalist, Richard won Conservation Greenkeeper of the Year Award in 2014, and was instrumental in helping his club win the “Overall Award” at the Lincolnshire Environmental Awards.  His encyclopaedic knowledge of wildflowers will steer the development of new products in the company’s expanding range of wildflower turf.

Richard says: ”I’m very excited about the opportunities my new role offers. Tillers Turf places a great emphasis on quality, which plays to my strengths”.

Tillers Turf, formed in 1989, is a grower of cultivated turf for landscape and sport and supplied throughout the UK and Europe. Their headquarters are near Lincoln where, in addition to 500 ha of normal turf, they also have a highly specialist wildflower turf unit.
