Ask greenkeeper Bill Mitchell to name the most impressive feature on his new Dennis FT510 mower and the response is immediate: “It’s the fact I know that it will last at least ten years.

“We’ve used Dennis mowers at the bowls club for many years and in that time we’ve never had a single issue, so when we were purchasing a new one, I knew that Dennis would stand the test of time.”

Canonbie Bowls Club, in Scotland, is a relatively new club having been founded by the local community 27 years ago. They have been using Dennis mowers at the club for over 15 years, after being impressed with the interchangeable cassette system.

Greenkeeper Bill Mitchell chose a new Dennis FT510 after using the previous model for 15 years.

When the time came for Bill to purchase a new mower he recalls that there was only one choice: “We’ve had such good service, advice and support from Alan Ronaldson, the Dennis Scottish Area Manager and added to that that the FT510 has been so reliable, it was such an easy decision to make.

“It was also beneficial that our old cassettes fit straight into the new model, which meant that I could keep the older mower as a back-up.”

The 510mm (20”) cylinder mower fitted with the innovative interchangeable cassette system is unrivalled as a mower and turf maintenance machine on all areas of fine turf. A range of 11 heads mean that one machine can be used for several key maintenance tasks including scarifying, verticutting or brushing.

“It’s so easy to use and takes only a few moments to change the cassettes.  It’s very quick to adjust the height of cut which you can do without the need of any tools and more or less on the go.”

The green at Canonbie has a reputation for being one of the best in the area with players at opposing clubs commenting that it is in the top three greens that they play. Bill puts it down to the quality of the mower he uses.

“You can tell that it’s a quality machine as it’s so well engineered. I believe that if you look after machines; then they will look after you. Maintenance on it is so easy, so there really are no excuses. I’ve been so impressed that I’ve actually recommended Dennis to other bowls clubs. They say that you get what you pay for and this mower is an excellent example of that.”
