The purpose of the role is to learn, develop and help support the delivery of grounds maintenance, services and processes that support the operation of all sites. Helping to maintain and prepare the playing surface to an excellent standard to ensure that games and training can go ahead on schedule, as well as maintain the surrounding areas of the stadium and training pitches to the same high standard.
- This is a 2 year apprenticeship working to the Level 2 Sports Turf Operative Standard
- The position is 37.5 hours per week, with allocated time for training (20% of time). Shift patterns will vary and will include early mornings and some weekend working.
- This is a fixed term contract with the potential to transition into a permanent Assistant Groundsperson upon successful completion of the apprenticeship
- Training will be provided in the workplace where you will work towards an Apprenticeship in Sportsturf.

Your Impact
1. To work alongside a small team to learn more about the process and operational responsibilities involved with grounds maintenance
2. To begin learning and developing into a qualified groundsperson gaining on the job experience supporting the upkeep of sites across the Etihad campus
3. Setting and ensuring the highest standards of safety and grounds maintenance for MCFC employees and customers.
4. Working on the pitch maintenance and monitoring the results
What we are looking for
Essential
- Willingness to work outdoors and in all weathers
- Ability to work as part of a small team
- Able to accept and carry out instructions in connection with the role
- Candidates will be screened as part of the recruitment process and must be able to work at Level 1 in Functional Skills (maths and English) in order to undertake this Apprenticeship
- The ideal candidate must be keen to learn, enjoy a challenge, be honest, hardworking, reliable, personable and have a keen interest in Grounds and landscaping
Please note that candidates with any qualification at Level 4 or above, including unit credits, are ineligible for funding and will not be considered for an Apprenticeship.
Desirable
- Any experience of working outdoors in landscaping, gardening, etc will be an advantage.
